Endoscopic discectomy is an advanced method in slipped disc surgery, allowing for speedier recovery and reduction of pain in the post-operative period, as it minimizes lesion of the muscles and the adjacent tissues. It is done with a small incision in the spine, through which a tube with a camera at the end, or endoscope, is introduced. The camera sends the images to a screen that the surgeon follows in order to perform the surgery. Instruments are also introduced through the endoscope, specifically designed to repair the disc and remove the fragments of it that are causing compression of the nerve roots, thus achieving good results with minimal surgical aggression and respecting the body.
